Founded in 2007, Pluck! promotes\u2014through publication and in-depth explorations\u2014the contemporary poetry, fiction, nonfiction, visual and media art of artists and writers who identify with multicultural experiences based in the Appalachian region. Pluck! is published year-round online at http:\/\/pluckjournal.uky.edu<\/a> published through the University of Kentucky.<\/p>

Pluck! welcomes submissions of reviews, fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and visual art. We currently publish two (2) online issues each year. The journal’s reading period is July 15 to August 30<\/strong> for Fall issue and January 15 to March 1<\/strong> Spring Issue. \u00a0 Submissions received outside this reading period will remain unread. Submit your work at any time during our reading periods.<\/p>

For prose submissions, submit one<\/strong> (1) short story, or one<\/strong> (1) self-contained novel excerpt, or creative non-fiction piece of no more than 5,000 words. Flash fiction submit up to three<\/strong> (3) pieces no more 750 words apiece in one single file in .doc, .docx, or .pdf format.<\/p>

For poetry submissions, submit up to three<\/strong> (3) poems totaling no more than six<\/strong> (6) pages in one single file in .doc., .docx, or .pdf format.<\/p>

For book reviews, submit\u00a0 one<\/strong> (1) review no more than 1500 words in one single file in .doc, .docx, or .pdf format.<\/p>

Email submissions to submissions.pluckjournal@gmail.com<\/a>. In the subject line of your email write the medium or genre, semicolon, the \u201csubmission\u201d (ex. Photography: submission, Flash Fiction: submission, or CNF: submission). \u00a0The body of your email should contain a cover letter with a brief biography (written in the third person and fewer than 100 words). Attach submission to body of email. Pluck! only accepts submissions via email.<\/p>

Accepted file types: .doc, .docx, .pdf, . jpeg, .mp3, .png.<\/p>

Any submissions that do not adhere to our guidelines will be withdrawn from consideration.<\/p>
